Sleep is an overlooked topic in treatment, training and recovery.

Sleep is essential in order to recover and grow.

If you don’t sleep enough, you won’t recover enough and put yourself at risk for injury.


A lot of good things happen during sleep.

  • Your heart rate slows
  • Your bloodpressure lowers
  • Your hormones will regulate
  • Your body releases growth hormone
  • Your tissue will recover and grow


So, in short, sleep will repair, refill and restock the stuff you used up the day(s) before and prepares your body for the day to come.

A (chronic) lack of sleep can have serious effects on your overall performance and health.

Besides the the all too familiar baggy eyes, your muscles become stiff and painfull, your blood pressure rises,
you become more irritable, less focused, and your cortisol levels (stress hormone) rise.

Not good.

An adult should sleep between 7-9 hours a night in order to recover properly.


Not reaching the 7-9 hours? Or feeling tired all the time?

The solution is quite simple, sleep some more…. Go to bed before 11, put away your phone, stretch before you go to bed, do some breathing exercises, or take a nap during the day. 

Sleeping more will help you perform better. In the gym, at work, everywhere!
